Ontario Agricultural College food economist Dr. Mike von Massow discussed the increase in food costs and tipping amounts with several media outlets.

Von Massow discussed “tip creep” with Forbes and why more people are opting out of aggressive prompts to tip.

Speaking to The Winnipeg Free Press about “tip creep,” von Massow said “it’s not surprising that people… are willing to consider the end of tipping,” given how aggressive tip prompts have become.

With CBC News, von Massow explored various approaches governments can take to control food prices, including price limits and freezes, export controls, changes to supply management systems, subsidiaries and better climate change action.

A professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, von Massow researches retail and restaurant food demand, supply chain management, and value chain structure and performance.
