On Feb. 28, the Guelph Police Service (GPS) released a community safety bulletin regarding a high-risk offender being released from custody.
To help ensure the safety of our campus community, the University of Guelph Campus Security Office (CSO) shared the bulletin on the SafeGryphon app, the CSO website, and on our social media channels. Posters have also been placed in student residences advising of measures to take if the individual is seen.
After having been seen on campus, the individual is now back in police custody. He was re-arrested on March 10 by Guelph Police for allegedly breaching a court order and is being held while awaiting a bail hearing.
This individual has a history of violence that includes two stranger sexual assaults, and Guelph Police Service believe he poses a risk to the community, particularly to women.
In the event he is released from policy custody, we want to remind you that if you see this individual on campus to contact CSO immediately by calling 519-840-5000 or 519-824-4120, Ext. 52245. If using a campus telephone call extension 52000.
