Food Day Canada, a day to celebrate Canadian-grown food with all-Canadian meals, is this Saturday, Aug. 3.
University of Guelph food laureate Anita Stewart, who founded the annual event 16 years ago, is available to discuss why a day to raise awareness about Canadian farmers, growers and chefs is still as relevant today as it was in 2003.
As Canada’s food university, U of G has been involved with Food Day Canada since it began.
This year, the theme is “Shine a Light on Canadian Cuisine,” with 22 structures across Canada expected to be lit up in red and white in honour of Canada’s food scene.
