U of G Prof. Karen Connelly was featured in a Sept. 18 Rabble.ca story about the launch of a new book about refugees at Berlin’s 18th International Literature Festival.

Connelly, who has written three books exploring the stories of Burmese dissidents, political prisoners and refugees, was one of four writers launching a preview of the anthology Refugees Worldwide II at the Berlin festival.

The article notes that Connelly views Canada’s immigration and refugee system through the lens of her own family’s experience. She talked about why we need to practice empathy and not ignore the refugee crisis, even when it might seem overwhelming.

Connelly teaches the MFA master’s seminar in creative non-fiction at U of G.
