A Sept. 24 Toronto Star article titled “Mind power: 10 tips for student mental health” highlights some of the ways U of G supports the mental health of its students.

Fourth-year student Jessica Boaventura shared her mental health struggles during her first year at U of G. Boaventura and her mother were interviewed about University services, including services to help students make the transition to life away from home.

Psychology professor Stephen Lewis discussed ways students can cope with mental health issues, including taking care of the basics – getting enough sleep, eating well and exercising, accessing student services, maintaining social connections, and using an agenda to keep track of assignments and other activities.

Lewis studies depression, emotion regulation and prevention programs.
