Congratulations

Congratulations, Dr. Mike! Mike Ridley served in many roles during his time at U of G, including Chief Librarian and CIO (at the same time!) and acting director of the First Year Seminar program. While some people play golf, travel or garden in their retirement, Mike Ridley completed his PhD! He defended his dissertation (“Folk Theories, Recommender Systems, and Human-Centered Explainable Artificial Intelligence (HCXAI)” at Western University in December 2022.

Mike recently shared with library colleagues that during his “wonderful six-year journey,” he made extensive use of the library’s resources and services: print and digital collections, interlibrary loan, digital tools, study space, consultation services and more. He thanked the Library staff for making these things possible and said “I simply couldn’t have achieved my doctorate without you.” ” – provided by Barbara McDonald
