COVID-19: Vaccination

The COVID-19 vaccine plays an important role in helping protect our community. U of G strongly encourages everyone to get vaccinated and to keep up to date with their vaccination and booster doses.

The University’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy was paused on May 1. Proof of vaccination is currently not required to access U of G spaces. The University retains its ability to reinstate public health requirements, if needed and with short notice. Please continue to follow U of G’s COVID-19 safety measures while on site. Thank you for helping keep our community safe!

Vaccination at U of G

U of G strongly encourages faculty, staff and students who haven’t yet done so to submit proof of vaccination through U of G’s Vaccination Proof System. This ensures you are prepared if the University reinstates this requirement for access to U of G spaces.

Vaccination Requirements for Students Living in Residence

U of G paused its COVID-19 vaccination and mask requirements on May 1. The University retains its ability to reinstate public health requirements, if needed and with short notice. While vaccinations are currently not required for those living in residence, that requirement may be reinstated. If you are planning to live in residence, we strongly encourage you to get vaccinated as soon as possible. That way, you will be prepared if the University reinstates COVID-19 vaccination as a requirement to access campus.

International Students

Canada’s COVID-19 vaccination plan includes all those currently living in Canada.

All U of G students can register for vaccination with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. On the registration form, international students can leave the OHIP Number field blank or drop-in to any COVID-19 vaccination clinic to receive your first dose.

When you go for your vaccination, bring a piece of government issued identification (e.g., passport) to your appointment to confirm your identity.

Some international students may receive their first dose of the vaccine in their home country and be eligible for their second dose while in Canada.
