Dr. Ann Pegoraro, the Lang Chair in Sport Management, spoke with the Toronto Star about what sports organizations need to do to educate players about Pride, in the wake of the release of a Blue Jays pitcher.

Pegoraro said she believes the message of Pride has become misinterpreted, particularly in men’s leagues, and that is leading to conflicts with players, unions and owners.

The director of the International Institute for Sport Business and Leadership, Pegoraro researches gender equity, sport consumers, marketing and communication, and is also the co-director of the National Network for Research on Gender Equity in Canadian Sport.
