Dr. Alfons Weersink

Agricultural economist Dr. Alfons Weersink explained how the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is affecting global wheat prices to The National Post.

Weersink referenced previously named reasons for the price hike, such as Ukraine and Russia being major wheat exporters. He said the disruption to the supply chain has caused wheat prices to rise by 50 percent since the invasion and those higher prices will continue to be felt across the supply chain.

A professor in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Weersink researches the feasibility of new agricultural technology and policy.
