A professor in the School of Environmental Sciences, Raine said there is mounting evidence that bees’ behaviour, learning and memory may be affected by exposure to glyphosate.

Raine also appeared in a series of interviews on CBC Radio on Sept. 25 including Ontario Morning with Wei Chen and The Morning Edition with Craig Norris. He talked about kinds of pollinators — including wasps, hummingbirds and butterflies — and discussed factors putting these species at risk, including climate change, agriculture and fewer wildflowers. He also offered tips on how people can help pollinators to flourish.

Holder of the Rebanks Family Chair in Pollinator Conservation at U of G and a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society and the Linnean Society of London, Raine studies pollinators and pesticides.
