Single-serve compostable coffee pods created by researchers at the U of G’s Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre (BDDC) were featured by CBC News Sept. 30. The pods will soon be available for sale in supermarkets. Prof. Amar Mohanty, BDDC director, said compostable coffee pods fill a need, as municipalities struggle to dispose of the pods in a sustainable way. Mohanty researches natural fibre composites and biomaterials.
