For the last 150 years, the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) has supported the lifeline of the agri-food sector, exploring and improving how we feed the world, build communities and ensure the environment thrives.
Since 1874, OAC’s innovations have changed how and what we eat and how we impact our environment. In the 1950s, OAC bred the Guelph Millennium Asparagus, now the industry standard for Ontario farmers. In 1966, OAC’s Gary Johnston created the household staple Yukon Gold Potato. Today, Dr. Manjusri Misra and Amar Mohanty are working together to create sustainably produced plastics and foam out of soy. These are just a few of the many innovations to come out of OAC – learn more about OAC’s history and innovations.

Taste the OAC Goodness
Did you know that top OAC innovations include household staples like Guelph Millennium Asparagus or the Yukon Gold Potato? Get a taste of the impact OAC has had on the food system by grabbing a locally inspired meal featuring OAC-themed ingredients at the UC Chef’s Hall on May 1.
OAC has been working with the Guelph Food innovation Centre to develop an OAC inspired ice cream flavour. Stay tuned for an opportunity in May to purchase a pint on campus!

OAC 150th Celebration Dinner and Alumni Weekend
OAC is welcoming up to 800 alumni and friends for a historic gathering on Johnston Green with a delectable dinner, vibrant music and the spirit of a family reunion during Alumni Weekend June 21 to 23.
Deep Dish Dialogues with OAC researchers
Explore impactful subjects in this online event series that also showcases chefs and food experts. For May and June, OAC researchers will explore topics of bread and gluten science and the farm to table movement . This series is hosted in collaboration with the Arrell Food Institute and the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management. Learn more about Deep Dish Dialogues.

History Tours of Campus
In August, OAC will be offering a series of tours to provide visitors with a deep understanding of OAC’s evolution, architectural significance, and the stories woven into its foundation.
