carlaProf. Carla Rice, Family Relations and Applied Nutrition, is featured in a Dec. 5 story in University Affairs on the role of art in advancing the rights of people with disablities. The article looks at her work with Ryerson’s Eliza Chandler.

Rice and Chandler are co-directing Bodies in Translation: Activist Art, Technology and Access to Life. The project brings together nearly two dozen community-university partners from across Canada to explore use of the arts to change perceptions about people with mind/body differences.

Rice holds the Canada Research Chair in Care, Gender and Relationships. She recently received a $2.5-million grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council to launch Bodies in Translation. Read more
