Bargaining teams for the University of Guelph and the University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA) – representing about 800 faculty, librarians and veterinarians – have met since April 28 to negotiate a new collective agreement. The last agreement expired June 30.

The University and UGFA met along with a conciliator on Sept. 10 and 12.

The union asked the Ontario Ministry of Labour to issue a “no board” report. UGFA will be in a legal strike position and the University in a legal lockout position effective midnight Oct. 3.

Mediation is scheduled for Sept. 26.

Updates will be provided as they are available.

The University remains committed to reaching an agreement that meets our collective needs and reflects U of G’s fiscal circumstances.
