The City of Guelph has recognized U of G’s efforts to make the campus more accessible.
The University received the Access Recognition Award for identifying and removing accessibility barriers for students, visitors and employees at U of G facilities.
This is the second year in a row that U of G has received the honour.
The award singled out Justin Selby, construction co-ordinator in Physical Resources, and the University’s built environment steering subcommittee, which reviews accessibility to campus buildings.
During 2014 and 2015, the University completed several accessibility-related renovations, based on advice from Selby and the subcommittee.
Projects included creating an accessible viewing platform at Alumni Stadium, installing door levers in MacKinnon building classrooms, and upgrading washroom in the MacDonald Institute addition.
The University allocated $125,000 to these and other accessibility projects.
