What will the future business of live events look like during the pandemic?

A University of Guelph webinar will tackle this question from a population medicine perspective Aug. 19 at noon.

Hosted in partnership with the Sponsorship Marketing Council of Canada, the free webinar will feature Prof. Amy Greer, Department of Population Medicine, and Prof. Norm O’Reilly, U of G’s director of the International Institute for Sport Business and Leadership, as well as Julie Raheja-Perera, vice-president of marketing at PepsiCo.

They will discuss the business of large sponsored events during COVID-19 and share insights about the pandemic that brands, properties and agencies in sponsorship can apply to business continuity and recovery plans.

Greer studies the introduction, spread, dynamics and control of infectious diseases in populations, and is well known for her mathematical modelling of the spread of such diseases to identify intervention and control strategies.

O’Reilly is widely published in sports marketing and sponsorship, including 14 books and more than 130 peer-reviewed journal articles. He recently sat on the provincial sub-committee “Growing the Economy Through Sport” that provided recommendations to the Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries.

Raheja-Perera is an industry leader based in Chicago and heads marketing for PepsiCo’s central U.S. division.
