U of G’s football team will head to the 111th Yates Cup this Saturday in London, Ont., to face the defending Vanier Cup champions and No. 1-ranked Western Mustangs.

The game will take place at Western’s TD Stadium with kickoff at 1 p.m.

This will mark the first meeting of the 2018 season between these two OUA rivals, with Western going undefeated (8-0) to earn the No. 1 seed in the OUA playoffs, while Guelph finished 5-3, good for third in the conference.

The Gryphons are in search of their fifth Yates Cup in program history (1984, 1992, 1996 and 2015) with this weekend’s return to the site of their 2015 Yates Cup victory. The winner of Saturday’s matchup will advance to the national semifinal and host the Canada West champion (Saskatchewan or Calgary) in the 2018 Mitchell Bowl (live on Sportsnet – Nov. 17).
