Iranian-born artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat will present a lecture illustrating the development of her work from still photography to video installations, cinema and most recently to opera. The main focus will be on her most recent projects, including two new video installations, "Roja" and "Sara", that will premiere in New York in spring 2017.

The master of fine arts candidates will open their studios to the public to show and discuss their work. The tour runs from 2 to 5:30 p.m. and from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in Blackwood Hall, Firehall and Alexander Hall. The studio tour is held in conjunction with the Dasha Shenkman Lecture in Contemporary Art

The Building Canada Lecture Series presents Matthew Hayday, a professor of Canadian history at the University of Guelph. A specialist in political history, his research deals with issues related to national identity, language policy, celebrations and commemorations, public policy and cultural policy.
