Learn how to “pitch” your research! Participating in this workshop series will help you better articulate complex ideas effectively in a concise format and prepare you to share your research in a Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.
To help students prepare a 3-minute research “pitch,” we are hosting two interactive workshops facilitated by Dr. Jodie Salter (University of Guelph Library, Writing Specialist), Jason Dodd (University of Guelph Library, Science Learning Specialist) and Jessie Kennedy (Manager, John F. Wood Centre for Business and Student Enterprise).
Register on Qualtrics for this event.
During this workshop series, you will learn how organize your pitch, follow the principles of good slide design, and receive valuable feedback on your presentation.
Both workshops will be held in-person in MINS 129 and online via TEAMS. (You will receive more information once you register.)
Workshop 1 – Preparing Your Pitch: February 14, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Workshop 2 – Presentation Feedback: March 13, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Want to take this opportunity further? Challenge yourself and apply now for the 2024 3MT competition! 3MT is a university-wide competition for graduate students in which participants present their research, creative activity, and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less in an engaging, accessible, and compelling way using only one slide. Our past U of G 3MT Champion has some advice for future 3MT participants.
