Faculty and Staff: Pause and Create – Draw Van Gogh’s Famous Sunflowers with Oil Pastels

Learn how to create a “painting” using oil pastels. This fun and versatile medium creates an effect similar to oil paintings, without all the mess or fuss. Attendees will create a painting inspired by Van Gogh’s famous sunflowers.

About the Instructor:
Candice Leyland is an artist and art onstructor from Kitchener. She graduated from the University of Guelph and creates watercolours inspired by nature and colour.

What supplies are required?

  • Oil Pastels -These can be purchased at Wyndham Arts, Michaels, or even at some dollar stores. If in a pinch and you want to participate you can use crayons as well and the drawing will still turn out well!
  • Paper – Any mixed media or coloured paper and pastels will work to create this drawing.
