The University of Guelph is providing an update on the IT system incident first detected on September 11.

While University IT systems are largely operational and as we continue to work to ensure they are secure, we have learned that limited information has been compromised. As part of continued efforts to ensure the security of our IT systems you may receive direction to reset your password.

The University is conducting a thorough review of the affected data on a priority basis. We will be in direct contact with anyone whose personal information may have been involved to notify them and provide any recommended actions.

Further enhancements to the University’s systems are underway. CCS is adding protections and expanding its rollout of multi-factor authentication for faculty and staff. Further information on that will be provided to faculty and staff today. Faculty and staff outside of Canada who are not able to access Microsoft 365 services, please contact your department IT representative.

Please be assured that the University continues to work alongside law enforcement, government and regulatory bodies, and leading external experts.
