U of G’s Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics MBA program has been recognized as one of the world’s best for its focus on sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

The University’s MBA placed in the global top 20 graduate business programs in the Corporate Knights Better World MBA ranking released today.

The rankings by the Toronto-based media and research company included 40 international business schools. This marks the second year in a row that the University of Guelph’s MBA has made the top 20.

U of G’s program placed fifth among Canadian business schools.

“As a globally focused business school, we have a responsibility to ensure sustainability practices are integrated in our curriculum to reflect the changing demands of the business world,” said Prof. Sara Mann, interim dean. “Continuing to be highly ranked in the Better World MBA list further strengthens our reputation as a business school committed to improving life through business.”

Offered online along with on-campus residential experiences, the program is designed for managers and executives in finance, management, government, hospitality, and agriculture and related industries.

“Lang’s MBA specialization in sustainable commerce provides business leaders with the academic training and credentials to make an impact on both organizations and the planet,” said Prof. Sean Lyons, associate dean, research and graduate studies.

The rankings evaluate schools based on their commitment to sustainability in teaching and research. Programs are assessed for curriculum, sustainability-oriented institutes and centres, and peer-reviewed faculty research published in top journals.

The ranking appears in this month’s education and youth issue of Corporate Knights, a quarterly magazine distributed globally.
