“Employers are hungry for graduates with that value added of sustainability.”
So said Prof. Rumina Dhalla of U of G’s Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics in an article in the Toronto Star that focused on Canada’s most sustainable business schools.
The Lang School ranked 18th among most sustainable business school in the world, in a new ranking by Corporate Knights. The organization evaluated 146 global business schools on how well they integrated sustainability considerations into their core courses, faculty research and institutes.
Canada has 10 of the top 40 most sustainable business schools in the world. U of G’s program placed fifth among Canadian business schools.
Dhalla, who coordinates corporate social responsibility coordinator as well as the MBA graduate program, commented that business schools are now aiming to develop leaders who are interested in business that is both fair to the planet and people.
The article noted that Lang offers an MBA in Sustainable Commerce, in which 60 per cent of its core courses making sustainability a central theme, including Sustainable Value Creation, Business Practices for Sustainability, and Governance for Sustainability. Offered online, the program is designed for managers and executives in finance, management, government, hospitality, and agriculture and related industries.
The ranking appears in this month’s education and youth issue of Corporate Knights, a quarterly magazine distributed globally.
