Eleven incoming undergraduate students received top University of Guelph scholarships August 31.
Seven students received President’s Scholarships, which recognize high school achievements, leadership abilities and citizenship activities.
Two students received the Lincoln Alexander Chancellor’s Scholarship. The award, named for former longtime chancellor Lincoln Alexander, recognizes top students who have made significant community contributions and who are Aboriginal, a member of a visible minority or a person with a disability.
U of G president Franco Vaccarino and chancellor Martha Billes presented the awards at the Arboretum Centre.
Chancellors’ Scholarships
These entrance scholarships were established in honour of current and past University of Guelph Chancellors. The awards recognize students of academic distinction who have taken leadership roles in activities that demonstrate an interest in international relations and development, or in activities relating to arts and culture, and demonstrate the potential to become a leader in society.

Lincoln Alexander Chancellor’s Scholarship
These entrance awards honour the memory of Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Guelph and former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, The Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander. The awards were created to recognize students of academic distinction who are Aboriginal People of Canada, persons with a disability or members of a racialized group and who have made significant contributions to their schools and their communities.

The President’s Scholarships were established in honour of donors and distinguished members of the University of Guelph. These entrance awards recognize students of academic distinction who have made significant contributions to their schools and their communities and demonstrate the potential to become leaders in society.
