Events this year include the traditional Friday night University of Guelph Alumni Association Awards of Excellence Gala, more than 22 class reunions, SummerFest on the Green and craft beer tasting at the Brass Taps.
Three graduates will be honoured at this year’s awards, as follows:
- Tim Lambert, B.Sc. 1983, Alumni of Honour: Lambert studied animal and poultry science and is the longest-serving CEO of Egg Farmers of Canada. He is a leader, advocate and change agent in both the Canadian and global agricultural sectors. Known for his pursuit of excellence in management, evidence-based decision-making and organizational culture, Tim has spurred tremendous growth in production and sales for egg farmers in Canada.
- Robin-Lee Norris, BA 1980, Alumni Volunteer Award: Norris is a tireless volunteer who has invested countless hours at U of G. She earned a BA in sociology and anthropology at U of G and attended Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. An associate counsel at Miller Thomson LLP, she is a highly skilled mediator who helps clients in family business and estate planning. Among her many volunteer commitments at U of G and beyond, Norris has served as chair and member of the Board of Trustees; vice-chair and member of the Board of Governors; and chair of the Arboretum Master Plan Steering Committee.
- Esther Rhee, BA 2005, Young Alumni Award: As a social worker, Rhee has helped build hundreds of programs across Canada and has worked as a clinical therapist in children and adult mental health. As national program director for Autism Speaks Canada, Esther focuses on building community capacity, collaboration, program development and navigation support strategies for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families. She has raised millions for autism programs and research and has been recognized as a leader in mental health advocacy by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Alumni Weekend will also feature the popular ice cream technology tour, as well as tours of the Arboretum and the Honey Bee Research Centre.
