Wednesday, December 6, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

The changing north: Policy and program responses to change/ing communities. Wednesday, December 6, 3 to 4:30 p.m., virtual.

How are northern and Indigenous women responding?

Join us on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women for this important conversation.

Across the north of present-day Canada, resource extraction is contributing to significant changes, many of which disproportionately harm diverse northern and Indigenous women and others frequently left out of public policy conversations. How are they responding?

Hear from an impressive panel of scholars, community researchers and organizations:

  • Jacqueline Ramdatt, Research Associate, Equity and Inclusion Planning in Kitimat.
  • Alexandra (Alex) Bridges, Project Manager and Indigenous Lens GBA Plus Lead, Keepers of the Circle
  • Dr. Rebecca Hall, Assistant Professor, Department of Global Development Studies, Queen’s University
  • Moderator: Dr. Leah Levac, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair in Critical Community Engagement in Public Policy, Department of Political Science, University of Guelph

We welcome everyone to join this virtual event:

Time: 12:00 – 1:30 pm PST | 3 pm EST | 4 pm AST

Please RSVP by Monday, December 4.

If you are in the Haisla Nation or Kitimat and would like to watch the panel from the Tamitik Status of Women office, please include this in your RSVP.
