With funds received from family and friends of the late Fred Presant, the OAC Alumni Foundation supports the F.W. Presant Memorial Lecture series, which features internationally recognized experts to speak on farmed animal welfare.

Linda Keeling is Professor of Animal Welfare at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, where she manages an active research group in animal behaviour and welfare. She received her PhD in Zoology from the University of Edinburgh, UK, and has worked previously for the Scottish Agricultural Colleges. She also has roots here at the University of Guelph, having completed postdoctoral studies with Professors Ian Duncan and Frank Hurnik in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science.

Her research asks fundamental questions related to social behaviour, motivation and cognition in farm, sport and companion animals, but also applied questions related to the effects of housing and management on animals, and the development of animal welfare assessment methodologies. She is active in multidisciplinary projects and in science-based animal welfare policy development. She is a member of the EU Platform on Animal Welfare and works in various projects for the European Food Safety Authority. She is a Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Forestry and Agriculture.
