After months of work, student teams involved in the 2021-2022 Project SOY Plus competition are ready to showcase their creative and potentially industry-altering plant-based products. Contestant entries will be open for viewing by the public and judged by industry representatives. Cash rewards of $2,500, $1,000 and $500 will be awarded to first, second and third place, respectively in three categories.
Initially introduced in 1996, Project Soy served as a way to help maintain the momentum of the soybean industry, raise the production and awareness of the crop, and find diversified uses and markets for soybeans. Since then, the program has expanded into Project SOY Plus and now includes a wide variety of plant-based products with the ultimate goal of making a positive and lasting impact on the environment.
The Project SOY Plus Finale takes in the University Centre on Friday, March 25 with an open house to showcase projects from 10 a.m. until noon and an awards announcement between 12:30-1 p.m. The event is free to attend.
