Global Food Expert Appears on ‘Quirks and Quarks’ 50th Anniversary Episode

Quirks & Quarks host Bob McDonald and Dr. Evan Fraser record the show’s 50th anniversary episode

Dr. Evan Fraser, director of the University of Guelph’s Arrell Food Institute and professor in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics, discussed his vision of the future of food on CBC’s Quirks & Quarks. 

The episode celebrates 50 years of the award-winning radio science program and focuses on the future of science. Fraser discussed how he sees food being eaten and grown in the future. He explored the impact of climate change on agriculture and discussed how agri-food technologies like vertical farming and precision fermentation maintain a healthy food supply. 

Fraser is one of Canada’s most consulted experts on the future of food, sustainability and climate change. He is a co-chair of the Canadian Food Policy Advisory Council and one of 15 international experts sitting on the United Nations’ High-Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition. Fraser is also part of the U of G team leading Sustainable Food Systems for Canada (SF4C), a national agri-food innovation and training platform.
