Dr. Christine Baes, a livestock genomics researcher at the Ontario Agricultural College, discussed her research on breeding dairy cattle to be less “methane-intense” with CTV’s Your Morning

Baes is the head of the Resilient Dairy Genome Project,. which is using genetics and genomics tools to breed cattle with enhanced health and fertility that process their feed more efficiently and release fewer gases.

She explained her team’s research and why it may help in reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Baes is professor in the Department of Animal Biosciences and holds the Canada Research Chair in Livestock Genomics. She uses genetic and genomic selection to improve farm animal health, welfare, and productivity.
