Dr. Simon Somogyi, an agribusiness researcher in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, discussed with the Toronto Star how consumers are trying to adapt to still-rising food prices.

Somogyi said while some people are eating less, demand has not dropped far enough to lessen food prices. “We all have to eat,” he said.

Discussing high food prices with CTV Calgary, he said he expected to see the prices of locally grown fruit and vegetable to drop somewhat over the coming month.

The Arrell Chair in the Business of Food and a professor in the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management, Somogyi researches agri-food value chain analysis and management.
