Dr. Brady Deaton

Food economists Drs. Mike von Massow and Brady Deaton Jr. discussed Canada’s role in developing cellular agriculture with the National Observer

Von Massow said “Canada has some natural advantages” that could help the country become a leader in lab-grown meat production. 

Deaton commented on whether the technology used for lab-grown meat could help address food insecurity challenges.

Von Massow is a professor in the Department of Food, Agriculture and Resource Economics in the Ontario Agricultural College  who researches retail and restaurant food demand, supply chain management, and value chain structure and performance. 

The McCain Family Chair in Food Security, Deaton is also a professor in Department of Food, Agriculture and Resource Economics. He researches food security and land tenures.
