AP Consults U of G Infectious Disease Veterinarian

U of G infectious disease veterinarian Dr. Scott Weese spoke to The Associated Press about whether pets can get the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Weese said while the risk of animals spreading COVID to people is low, pets can get it from us, which is why we should stay away from them when sick.

The article appeared in more than 100 publications online, including ABC News.

Weese is a veterinary internal medicine specialist in the Department of Pathobiology, the director of U of G’s Centre for Public Health and Zoonoses and chief of infection control at the Ontario Veterinary College Health Sciences Centre.
