Prof. Amy Greer

Dr. Amy Greer, an epidemiologist in the Department of Population Medicine, spoke to both The Globe and Mail and Chatelaine about what school life will be like when students return in the fall.

“I don’t think we’re going to be looking at school closures,” she told The Globe and Mail. “I don’t think we’re going to be looking at massive disruptions in the same way. Vaccine is going to really help us to buffer that risk significantly.”

Greer told Chatelaine that Canadians have a real chance to enter into fall “with very low rates of community transmission, which sets schools up in a way that previously we did not have.”

Holder of the Canada Research Chair in Population Disease Modelling, Greer is part of a research team modelling COVID-19 spread to advise federal public health authorities.
