The community COVID-19 vaccination clinic hosted at the University of Guelph will open its doors March 15 and will run through August. Members of the U of G community who meet provincial guidelines will be eligible to obtain the vaccine on campus following Ontario’s 3-phase plan for immunization.

The clinic, which will be held in the University Centre, is the result of a collaborative partnership among the University of Guelph, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health and the Guelph Family Health Team. In consultation with those partners, the University Centre was selected as the best location on campus for the clinic because of its capacity, proximity to public transit and space availability over the spring and summer.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health expects to vaccinate at least 75 per cent of the local population over the age of 16 by early August. At its peak, the University of Guelph clinic is expected to vaccinate 2,000 people per day.

Registering for an appointment

Registration for vaccination appointments is now open for prioritized eligible groups.

You must have an appointment to receive a vaccine.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has expanded its vaccine registration to include certain individuals who are unable to work from home, which may include some employees at the University of Guelph. Visit the Public Health website to learn more about who qualifies for vaccination in Phase 2.

Vaccination appointments are managed through Public Health’s Online COVID-19 Vaccination Registration Portal. Individuals who need assistance registering for an appointment can call the Public Health Vaccine Registration and Booking Help Line at 1-844-780-0202.

Accessing the clinic

The clinic is held in the University Centre.

  1. Individuals should park in lots P31 or P42 (accessible spaces), which can be reached from South Ring Road East. View the campus parking mapP31 will be reserved for vaccination clinic parking only. Faculty, staff and students must park in other lots.

    There is currently no charge for parking on campus.

  2. Many Guelph Public Transit bus routes have stops at the University Centre.
  3. Those coming for vaccination should follow the signs and enter the clinic through the University Centre’s north doors (near Branion Plaza).

Clinic volunteers and signs from the parking lot and bus loop will direct visitors to the clinic entrance and help people navigate the space.

Volunteers will assist those with accessibility needs.

Access to the University Centre for other purposes

The COVID-19 vaccination clinic will occupy the main floor of the University Centre, including the courtyard, lounge and dining spaces. Study space is available in the McLaughlin Library under strict safety protocols.

Access to commercial businesses remains available. The building will be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

University staff who have been approved to come to work in the building should enter through the east doors (near Booster Juice). These employees can access their workspaces after hours using their swipe cards. Elevator access is available but reduced due to construction.

Directional signs will be posted in the UC for staff and community members.

UC Starbucks, Subway and Booster Juice will be closed for the duration of the clinic. Brass Taps will be open for takeout service. The Caffeine Canteen and Gryph ‘N Grille food trucks will be in Branion Plaza regularly.
