Dr. Maya Goldenberg, a professor in the Department of Philosophy, was interviewed on CBC Radio’s Fresh Air about her new book, Vaccine Hesitancy: Public Trust, Expertise, and the War on Science.

Goldenberg explained that vaccine hesitancy has been around ever since the first vaccine was invented in the late 1700s. The reasons for that hesitancy have changed over the years, but they tend to reflect the cultural anxieties of the moment and are usually a signal of mistrust in authority figures, she said.

Goldenberg has been in demand among many media outlets for her expertise on the root causes of vaccines hesitancy and her thoughts on how to combat it, speaking with such outlets as the National Post, The Globe and Mail , TVO’s The Agenda and more.

Along with her research on vaccine attitudes, Goldenberg specializes in the philosophy of science and medicine.
