Prof. Tamara Small, Department of Political Science, spoke to Yahoo! Canada News about whether a party leader should resign after being defeated in an election.
Small said that in the last 20 years, there’s been this “new wave of tossing leaders out” after a defeat. But she said it isn’t always necessary to seek new leadership, particularly if the current leader doesn’t have the perception of being “weak.”
Small is interested in many aspects of politics, including the influence of image in Canadian politics, as well as political parties’ use and of the internet for campaigning. She also researches the regulatory framework for digital technologies in Canadian elections.
