Prof. Dave Guyadeen’s study evaluating the climate change plans of 63 Canadian municipalities was featured by TVOPublished recently in the journal Climatic Change, the study assessed plans based on eight criteria, including how a community sets its climate goals, how effective those goals are, and how it measures and achieves progress.

The article discusses how Kingston, Ont., came out on top.

The professor in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development says municipalities are the “most vulnerable” to climate change among all levels of government because they face the most immediate impacts.

Guyadeen studies plan development and implementation, and evaluation in government institutions, particularly in rural areas. He looks at ways of defining plan quality, including official plans and climate change plans.
