U of G researcher Sara Epp was interviewed by The Guardian for a story about how Mennonites in Ontario are being forced to move because of large-scale farms, suburban encroachment and rising land prices.

The article said many Mennonites are relocating to Prince Edward Island where land is cheaper.

A PhD candidate in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, Epp said the squeezing-out of Mennonites from rural Ontario will continue. She says Mennonites in southern Ontario know that if members of the next generation wants to farm, they will need to find more affordable land.

Epp studies Mennonite migration, rural land use planning and impacts on farm viability, agricultural diversification and farmer resilience.
