Prof. Karyn Freedman, Philosophy, wrote a column for the Huffington Post Dec. 6 looking at a recent letter by a group of Canadian authors defending a writer accused of several offences, including sexual misconduct and bullying. Freedman said the letter makes it more likely that marginalized voices will be sidelined forever. Her book One Hour in Paris tells her story of rape and recovery, interweaving autobiographical facts with philosophical, neuroscientific and psychological reflections while focusing on trauma and gender inequality.
