Prof. Jeff Farber, Food Science, was interviewed by Canadian Living June 12, and by CTV News – Kitchener and CBC Radio stations across Canada May 30 and 31. In the Canadian Living interview, he spoke about recalls of food and ways consumers can protect themselves. In the CTV and CBC interviews, he discussed Health Canada’s recent move to approve the sale of irradiated ground beef. Farber was the director of the Bureau of Microbial Hazards, Food Directorate, at Health Canada before starting at U of G. He studies food-borne pathogens in meat, dairy, seafood and produce.
