Research by Prof. Clarence Swanton, Plant Agriculture, was featured in a Research Matters story April 4. The research found some seedlings can sense changes in light reflected off weeds, leading weeds to “talk” plants to death. Swanton and his team are now investigating seed treatments that may one day safely protect crops. He studies crop physiology and integrated weed management.
