The panel will feature: \n\nDaniel Gillis\, assistant professor and statistician\, School of Computer Science\, will talk about a framework he developed with the Agricultural Research and Extension Trust to expand its capacity to turn scientific results into meaningful tools for farmers (Malawi\, 2016).\nKate Jenkins\, web and communications coordinator\, College of Business and Economics\, will talk about how she evaluated and created communications and marketing tools to raise the profile of HICAST (Nepal\, 2016).\nAdriana Ocampo\, lab technician\, Lab Services\, will discuss her role as an organic farming adviser for banana and cocoa farmers\, agricultural students and technicians with the Chira Association (Peru\, 2016).\nLeanne Piper\, manager\, residence admissions and marketing\, Student Housing\, will talk about building a website for the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce\, Industry and Agriculture\, the Manyara region’s first website in the country (Tanzania\, 2016).\n\nLeave for Change is a program of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI)\, two leading international development organizations. DESCRIPTION:Court Desautels will share his personal journey as a change maker in the restaurant industry. \nHe is president of The Neighbourhood Group of Companies\, which includes the Woolwich Arrow Pub\, Borealis Grille & Bar\, and Miijidaa Cafe + Bistro\, three of the top-rated restaurants in Guelph. His passion for hospitality started at 14 when he began working in kitchens around Guelph and Toronto. He later attended George Brown College where he received a diploma in business management. His work experience since then has included serving as event coordinator for Sleeman Breweries\, managing restaurants in Australia and spinning vinyl at various clubs along the way. \nDespite all of his hospitality experience\, Desautels’ true passion is to create the most sustainable restaurant group in Canada and help pave the way for how restaurants do business in the future. Attendees will gain an understanding of corporate social responsibility (CSR) through his personal story and how even in the restaurant industry\, a large organization can still strive for CSR without compromising quality. DESCRIPTION:Be inspired as faculty and staff share their experiences with Leave for Change (L4C)\, a program that supports employees as they undertake a short-term (three- to four-week) volunteer assignment in a developing country. The panel will feature: \n\nMary Murphy\, Legal Counsel\, will share the workshops she facilitated on legal systems for faculty\, practicing lawyers and local political party members while at the University of Phu Yen (Vietnam\, 2009).\nRaj Patara\, logistics coordinator\, College of Business and Economics\, will share her experience teaching students at the Tanzania National College of Tourism about the theory and practical aspects of food preparation and customer service (Tanzania\, 2016).\nKian Merrikh\, accessibility officer\, Office of Diversity and Human Rights\, will talk about how he helped build the capacity of faculty and administrators at Vietnam’s Bac Thang Long College in the areas of strategic marketing and service quality management (Vietnam\, 2011).\nLeanne Piper\, manager\, Residence Admissions and Marketing\, Student Housing\, will talk about building a website for the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce\, Industry and Agriculture\, the Manyara regions’ first website in the country (Tanzania\, 2016).\n\nLeave for Change is a program of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI)\, two leading international development organizations.
