DESCRIPTION:As part of the annual OVC Graduate Student Research Symposium\, we are pleased to invite everyone to attend our in-person panel on July 10\, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. \nArtificial Intelligence (AI) is a powerful tool that can tackle big research questions\, including human and animal health and wellbeing. For example\, AI can help generate data to build better models\, augmented reality can simulate infection transmission\, and digital twins can make clinical trials more efficient. But with big advances in AI technologies\, there are also important ethical considerations\, such as data security\, privacy\, and safety. Join our panelists—including experts in AI\, epidemiology\, immuno-oncology\, and public health—to learn more about the potential for AI in research and to discuss critical ethical considerations. \nFollowing the panel discussion\, Kevin Matsui\, the Managing Director of CARE-AI will speak about how AI might impact graduate student research.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the launch of the exhibition Gravel is the New Gold\, featuring the work of artist Paul Nadeau. Drawing together the visual language of cottage-country ephemera with references to practices of measuring\, mapping\, and surveying\, Nadeau’s hyperreal paintings incorporate trompe l’oeil to underscore a certain perception of the Canadian wilderness that has both depended on and accelerated the continuous dispossession of Indigenous lands for resource extraction and leisure. \nThis exhibition represents the culmination of two years of focused work in the University of Guelph’s Master of Fine Arts program. The Art Gallery of Guelph’s annual exhibitions of graduating MFA students are presented in conjunction with the School of Fine Art and Music at the University of Guelph.
