DESCRIPTION:Learn from Dani Nowosad as she shares the background and context of her ongoing research relationship with Inuit Hunter-Trapper Organizations (HTOs). She will be sharing the research data management agreement that she co-developed through working relationships with the Inuit-led HTOs in Cambridge Bay and Kugluktuk\, Nunavut. The presentation will allow participants to get a glimpse into the complex realities of the different research conditions that exist for institutions and communities and help us reflect on the layers of accountabilities in these relationships that go beyond typical institutional research ethics frameworks. \nAll U of G students\, staff and faculty are welcome to attend. \nRegister to be sent the Teams link. DESCRIPTION:This workshop for faculty shares approaches to providing feedback on academic writing projects such as theses and dissertations. \nWe discuss ways to anticipate and prepare for the challenges that graduate writers\, including writers for whom English is an additional language (EAL)\, may experience as they receive\, interpret\, and respond to feedback. We show how you can support your graduate students throughout the writing process and provide meaningful feedback under time constraints by approaching feedback as both a teacher and a researcher. In particular\, we focus on discourse analysis as a feedback tool which moves away from deficit thinking about EAL users. In this workshop\, we will provide opportunities for participants to share ideas\, strategies\, and challenges with each other and to practice delivering written feedback. \nThis event is online. DESCRIPTION:Athletics is opening their Women’s only swim in March for staff and faculty to attend for free! No membership is required. \nStaff should enter through Client Services to register for their free swim pass. Everyone should enter the pool through the changerooms. Locks are available for rent for $1 or you may bring your own lock. Bags are not permitted on deck and all belongings should be secured in a locked locker. For more details and swim policies see the Athletics Recreation Swim webpage. \nAthletic Fee Subsidy\, All Staff\nHave you heard of the Athletic Fee Subsidy? This subsidy makes general recreation and fitness very affordable. With the Athletics Centre on campus\, there is no initiation fee\, and you can sign up month to month and pause anytime without penalty! You can also add on an NRG membership for fitness classes\, the Fitness Centre and NRG Zone as part of the subsidy – so another very affordable rate for a state-of-the-art fitness centre and the best fitness classes in town!
