DESCRIPTION:Seasonal flu shots are free for everyone – U of G flu shot clinics are open to staff\, faculty\, students and community members. You are required to wait 15 minutes at the clinic after your shot. \nAll residents of Ontario over six months of age are eligible to receive the annual influenza vaccine at no charge. The vaccine is available at U of G’s Health Services\, at your family physician’s office\, through Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health or other public health units throughout the province. \nIt is important to get the vaccine every year as the vaccine changes annually to protect against the Influenza A and B strains determined to be most prevalent that year. \nThe Nov. 14 flu shot clinic takes place in the small gym in the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:This is an interactive workshop covering HBC and the sale of Rupert’s Land\, the West entering Canada\, the Red River Rebellion\, Riel’s Exile\, the Northwest Rebellion\, Riel’s Trial & Hanging and why we as Métis still celebrate Riel Day today. Join Métis Knowledge Keeper Alicia Hamilton as she walks you through historical moments within Métis history. \nMétis Knowledge Keeper\, Alicia Hamilton\, did not grow up knowing about her Métis ancestry. She was about 16 years old when it was discovered\, beginning her family’s journey of learning about who they were\, where they came from\, and what it means to be Métis. Alicia is now Chair of the Grand River Métis Council and loves continuing to learn more about her ancestors and sharing that knowledge with others. She enjoys working with students of all ages\, teaching Métis history\, cultural art\, and helping them with their own journeys of self-discovery. \nThe workshop runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. \nIndividual sessions are available by appointment or drop-in from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
