SUMMARY:Publishing with Pressbooks Workshop: Creating Content for the Classroom or Community
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, participants will be introduced to Pressbooks as a platform for content creation. Pressbooks is an online open-source publishing tool built on WordPress software that allows for the easy creation of clean\, well-formatted books in multiple file types. We will start by giving the context around Pressbooks\, including(use cases and advantages\, then move into a tour of the platform’s functionality. DESCRIPTION:Anne Croy\, a DVM graduate from U of G’s Ontario Veterinary College and former faculty member in OVC’s Department of Biomedical Sciences\, will present the 2019 Schofield Memorial Lecture: “Opportunities and decisions create careers and define self.” \nCroy has been widely recognized for her identification of uterine Natural Killer cells and her definition of their roles in promotion of early\, post-implantation uterine angiogenesis. \nFrom 1985 to 2004\, Croy was a professor in OVC’s Department of Biomedical Sciences. Between 2004 and 2016\, she held the Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Reproduction\, Development and Sexual Function at Queen’s University where she became an adjunct and emeritus professor in 2017. Croy was elected a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2012 and a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2017.
