SUMMARY:Shrub Identification Workshop at the Arboretum
DESCRIPTION:  \nNeither great trees nor a carpet of bloom\, the often overlooked but ecologically important shrubs and vines in our landscape will be the focus of this workshop. Fresh specimens and an easy to use key for shrubs will be used. We will be outdoors for half of the day discovering southern Ontario’s native and naturalized shrubs at the Arboretum. Bring a magnifying glass. \nPresented by: Arboretum horticulturist Sean Fox \nEarly Bird Fee: $75 per person by July 10. \nRegular Fee: $85 per person. \nNote: If we there aren’t enough registrations by the early-bird deadline\, the course may be cancelled. Maximum 16 adults.

SUMMARY:Supporting Digital Literacy with the Library's Media Studio
DESCRIPTION:  \nDigital media assignments\, such as podcasts\, digital stories and live-action videos\, can help students develop much needed digital literacy skills. Creating digital media assignments and embedding digital academic skills content into your course can enrich the learning experience of students. \nIn this workshop you will explore opportunities for digital literacy and media creation in the classroom\, including customized\, in-class instruction. \nYou will also tour the library’s new Media Studio and understand how the library’s learning and curriculum support team can support course instruction and assignment help using library help guides and instructional videos. Finally\, you will explore consultation services for the collaborative development of digital literacy activities\, assignments\, learning outcomes\, and assessment tools. \nStaff will be available for consultations after the workshop. \nMcLaughlin Library\, Room 246
