DESCRIPTION:Let’s get some work done in a virtual community! These online meet-ups will bring English language learners together on Friday mornings in July and early August. At each meeting\, we will start with a short lesson on writing tips\, do a writing warm-up activity\, share our goals\, and work on our writing projects independently. \n\nDates: July 12\, 19\, 26\, August 2\nTime: 9:30 a.m. to noon\nSchedule:\n\n9:30 to 10 a.m.: Short lesson on an academic writing skill\n10:00 to 10:30 a.m.: Writing warm up and goal sharing\n10:30 a.m. to noon: Focused writing time\n\n\n\nAfter registering for this event\, you will be invited to join an Academic Support Community for English language learners on Microsoft Teams. DESCRIPTION:Beyond the Books is a mental health literacy training that provides participants with general information on the prevalence of mental challenges and illness in our university community\, how to identify signs of troubling behaviour or distress\, and how to engage in conversations to support and refer an individual as needed.⁠\n⁠\nBeyond the Books is offered for free to all U of G students\, staff and faculty.⁠ \nThis session will be taking place online on July 18 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.\nRegistration for this training\, as well as future offerings\, can be found on the mental health training website.:

SUMMARY:Opening Reception Paul Nadeau: Gravel is the New Gold
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the launch of the exhibition Gravel is the New Gold\, featuring the work of artist Paul Nadeau. Drawing together the visual language of cottage-country ephemera with references to practices of measuring\, mapping\, and surveying\, Nadeau’s hyperreal paintings incorporate trompe l’oeil to underscore a certain perception of the Canadian wilderness that has both depended on and accelerated the continuous dispossession of Indigenous lands for resource extraction and leisure. \nThis exhibition represents the culmination of two years of focused work in the University of Guelph’s Master of Fine Arts program. The Art Gallery of Guelph’s annual exhibitions of graduating MFA students are presented in conjunction with the School of Fine Art and Music at the University of Guelph.
