SUMMARY:Listening to Different English Accents (online)
DESCRIPTION:When it comes to understanding different pronunciations\, much of the focus is on changing the speaker while ignoring listening practices. The purpose of this workshop is to have participants consider how they can be better listeners of different types of accented speech. Along with practicing practical strategies to improve understanding of various English accents\, participants will critically think about the nature of listening itself (and how it is not as objective as we think it is). \nThis event is online. A Zoom link will be provided via email approximately one day before the workshop. \nThis workshop is open to all students\, faculty and staff.
